10 Guilty-Pleasure Rom-Coms for a Night In
While our hubbies roll their eyes, there’s nothing a Jane loves more than a rom-com movie night in. Okay, maybe wine is a close rival (and both are the perfect combination). Whether it’s with your beau, BFF or little one, those feel-good vibes are infectious, even if hubs won’t admit it.
Jane’s Favourite Rom-Coms
So, the next night you’re not feeling like going out, put a bag of popcorn in the microwave, grab a bottle of red, and get cosy under a blanket with one of these rom-coms. With winter just around the corner, these light-hearted flicks will give you the warm and fuzzies.
Of course, no rom-com list would be complete without this classic tale. If you’re in need of a good cry (and some eye candy), this is your go-to movie to start your night in.
Every Jane can resonate with this high school chick drama. It’s the kind of movie you can watch over and over. Who doesn’t like watching the good girl win in the end? Recite every line by heart, it’s so fetch!
This timeless flick hits the spot every damn time. It delivers all the best clichés of growing up in Beverly Hills in the 90s. It’s feel-good, easy to watch, and never gets old.
If you want to laugh, like that deep in the belly ‘it hurts’ guffaw, watch Bridesmaids. It’s got an Aussie darling, Rose Byrne, in it who plays the popular-girl turned nice new best friend. It’s relatable, downright hilarious, and will have you crying tears of laugher.
Me Before You
Khaleesi with brown hair – where are her dragons? All jokes aside, this a perfect portrayal of an unlikely bond that turns to love. You’ll cry in this one too as you watch their story unfold.
You can’t beat the 90s for a good rom-com classic. It’s not your typical story, though. Boy meets girl, yes, but the girl is a prostitute. Boy and girl don’t quite fall in love. But, love wins. And the shopping movie montage down Rodeo Drive always has us drooling over our popcorn.
We remember watching this movie as young girls, instantly falling head over heels for dance instructor Johnny (Patrick Swayze). It doesn’t matter how many times we watch it; the Swayze swoon factor is still there. Now, who wants to have the time of their life?
There’s singing, there’s dancing and there’s Abba. And no, it’s not a wedding, but there’s a whole lot of love in this flick. The sequel is just as good too.
A Cinderella Story
This one’s a modern-day twist on a classic tale, starring Hillary Duff and Chad Michael Murray. Who doesn’t love watching the ‘everyday’ girl get the prince?
P.S. I love you
Last, but certainly not least, the story of overcoming a loss. A young widower discovers that her late husband has left her notes to help ease her pain after his death. Make sure you’ve got the tissues close for this one.
You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and you’ll smile at the best thing that connects us all: love.
